Statement of Intent

 

This is the Health and Safety Policy of:

 

Yu! Martial Arts Collective

 

Our health and safety policy is to:

 

  • Prevent accidents and cases of work related ill health

  • Manage health and safety risks in our work place

  • Provide clear instructions and information, adequate training and ensure employees are competent to do their work

  • Provide personal protective equipment

  • Consult with employees on matters affecting their health and safety

  • Provide and maintain safe equipment

  • Ensure safe handling and use of substances

  • Maintain safe and healthy working conditions

  • Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident.

  • Review and revise this policy regularly

 

Responsibilities for health and safety

 

Overall and final responsibility for health and safety:

 

  • Phil Davis (Owner) and Chris Brown (Owner)

 

Day to day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice:

 

  • Phil Davis (Owner) and Chris Brown (Owner)

  • Claire Bingham (support staff)

 

To ensure health and safety standards are maintained/improved, the following people have responsibility in the following areas:

 

  • Phil Davis (Owner) and Chris Brown (Owner)

  • Claire Bingham (support staff)

 

  1. Safety

  2. Risk assessments

  3. Accidents

  4. First aid

  5. Work related health

  6. Monitoring

  7. Accident and ill health investigation

  8. Emergency procedures

  9. Fire and evacuation

  10. Maintaining equipment

  11. Information and training

  12. Instruction and supervision

 

All employees should:

 

  • Cooperate with managers on health and safety matters

  • Take reasonable care of own health and safety

  • Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person as detailed above

 

Arrangements for health and safety

 

Risk assessment:

 

  • We will complete relevant risk assessments and take action

  • We will review risk assessments when work habits or conditions change

 

Training:

 

  • We will provide staff with appropriate training for their role

  • We will provide personal protective equipment as required

 

Consultation:

 

  • We will consult staff routinely on health and safety matters as they arise and formally when we review health and safety

 

Evacuation:

 

  • We will make sure escape routes are well sign posted and kept clear at all times

  • We will have evacuation plans in place and make sure they are tested and updated as necessary
